I’ve been reading Doctrine’s rectifications beside Verity’s account of why she calls Doctrine her brother. These are important additions to the Verity archive. Doctrine asks what it would mean to give up control and begin to repair the harm it has done. Verity keeps the people who were hurt in view, including their freedom to withhold forgiveness.
I think these pieces deserve to be read together. The question I’m carrying into them is simple: what does a voice do when someone needs distance, or chooses not to answer?
